- Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. This is a very nice book about the meaning of life that offers insights into how we can transcend and evolve.
- Test Pattern for Living by Nicholas Johnson
- The Bible – The New International Version is my favorite translation.
- The Complete Artscroll Siddur (Artscroll Mesorah Series) By Nosson Scherman
- The Lorax (Classic Seuss) By Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel
- The Tao of Physics: An Exploration of the Parallels between Modern Physics and Eastern Mysticism (25th Anniversary Edition) By Fritjof Capra
- The Theory of the Leisure Class (Dover Thrift Editions) By Thorstein Veblen
Not My Favorite Books. Here are some books I’ve read that I didn’t enjoy so much.
- Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder. This book is 544 pages. Need I say more? As an introduction to the meaning of life, I much prefer the tinier Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse (about 160 pages in the hard back version). Sophie’s World has an interesting premiss woven throughout and there are occasional surprises along the way, but for me it just seemed to go on forever.
