Welcome
The Prophecy Resource Group group has been established to provide
links to Biblical prophecy information from around the world. Please
let us know of any additional resources you would like to see included
here.
Introduction
Prophesy is a broad discipline which includes the prediction of
and interpretation of future events as well as the interpretation
of past events, dreams, images, and the like. In addition to addressing
specific events, prophecy deals with predicting the future condition
of the earth and of all humanity. There are generally two schools
of thought with regard to the future of the planet:
(1) Catastrophe Scenario. Global calamity, war, pestilence,
natural disasters, Armageddon, apocalypse. [click
here]
(2) Utopia Scenario. Global peace, unity, harmony, prosperity,
enlightenment, swords to plowshares, the lion and the lamb living
together. [click here]
At Resources for Life, our hope for the future leans somewhat toward
the Utopia Scenario. However, out of fairness, we have provided
information and links here for both of these schools of thought.

The sad fact is that the world is falling to pieces and
coming apart at the seams. The end of the world is closer today than ever
before. Most reasonable eschatologists agree that the Lamb
of God has broken the fourth seal as prophesied in Revelation 6:7-8, and
the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse has been given the authority to
kill one-quarter of the world by war, by famine, by plagues and with the
wild animals of the earth. Earthquakes, wars, disease, viruses, crime,
plagues, poverty, famine, and computer viruses are all increasing and
it's only a matter of time before the world reaches its climactic and
self-destructive end. At the time of this writing, there are over 2,500
atomic missiles in the United States on 15 minute alert all aimed at targets
in former Soviet Union. Violence in the Middle East is at an all time
high. There isn't much time before the end of the age. Those who do not
accept God's love now, will suffer mercilessly for eternity in a lake
of fire with no hope of ever being set free. Save yourselves while there
is still time! Run for the hills! Collect guns and ammunition. Build bunkers
and heavily armed compounds. Hoard food. Become fearful and suspicious.
Split hairs and argue over Biblical interpretation.

Song lyrics can be a rich source of discouraging views...
Eve of Destruction
Recorded by Barry McGuire in 1965
The Eastern world, it is explodin',
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'.
You're old enough to kill, but not for votin',
You don't believe in war -- but what's that gun you're totin'?
An' even the Jordan river has bodies floatin'.
But you tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Don't you understand what I'm tryin' to say,
An' can't you feel the fears I'm feelin' today?
If the button is pushed, there's no runnin' away,
There'll be no one to save, with the world in a grave.
Take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy.
An' you tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Yeah, my blood's so mad feels like coagulatin',
I'm sittin' here just contemplatin'.
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
Handful of senators don't pass legislation,
An' marches alone can't bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin',
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin'.
An' you tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Think of all the hate there is in Red China,
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama.
Ah, you may leave here for four days in space,
But when you return it's the same ol' place,
The poundin' of the drums, the pride an' disgrace.
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace.
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace,
An' tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction,
No, no, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
More Depressing Lyrics...
"The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
London is drowning-and I live by the river." - London Calling, The
Clash
"I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street
Now did you read the news today
They say the danger's gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
Burning into the night
Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is the land of confusion" - Land of Confusion, Genesis
"Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don't believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I'm with the high command
There's a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect you from up here
Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel." - Silent Running, Mike and the
Mechanics

The Bible promises us a peaceful future, not just in the
"sweet by and by," but an attainable peace here on earth. The
Bible is full of scriptures describing swords being beaten into plowshares
and lions living with lambs. The Bible clearly and unequivocally calls
followers of God to be repairers, restorers, and healers of the world.
Jesus taught us to pray for God's Kingdom to come on earth. Jesus teaches
that the meek will inherit the earth. Why would God allow the meek to
inherit the earth if it was going to be destroyed? No. God is in the process
of restoring the earth through those who are willing to help. The Bible
clearly describes that followers of God are given supernatural gifts and
fruits for the purpose of bringing healing to the world. Why would God
endow people with such amazing gifts and powers if they were not meant
to be used for something? Today, more than ever before, people are seeking
peaceable resolutions to conflict. Random acts of kindness are on the
rise. Racism, bigotry, sexism, and other evils have fallen and are "down
for the count." The tobacco industry has contracted a kind of marketplace
emphysema and is experiencing an economic fate symbolic of the suffering
of its victims. Worldwide religious awareness is on the rise. The real
question is this: Can God save the Earth? The answer is an emphatic Yes!
The "Nay Sayers" and doomsday prophets are teaching a depressing
heresy which is partly self fulfilling, because it immobilizes people
to their ultimate ability and calling which is to bring healing to the
planet. Rather than spreading the "Good News" which Jesus said
was the gospel of God's Coming Kingdom, these people are spreading bad
news. Those who are incapacitated by an apocalyptic view of the future
don't seem to be willing or able to contribute to a better future. You
must break away from those who are in a depressed and hypnotic stupor.
Break away from that. Don't be conformed to their thinking but be transformed
by God so that you can allow God to transform the world through you!

Song lyrics can be an encouraging source of hopeful views...
Artist: The
5th Dimension
Song: Aquarius
(Refrain / Chorus)
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will rule the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
Age of Aquarius . . . Aquarius! . . . Aquarius!
Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation . . . Aquarius! . . . Aquarius!
(Refrain / Chorus)
Artist: Tracy Chapman
Album: New Beginning
Song: Heaven's Here On Earth
You can look to the stars in search of the answers
Look for God and life on distant planets
Have your faith in the ever after
While each of us holds inside the map to the labyrinth
And heaven's here on earth
We create the pain
and the suffering
and the beauty in this world
Heaven's here on earth
In our faith in humankind
In our respect for what is earthly
In our unfaltering belief in peace and love and understanding
I've seen and met angels wearing the disguise
Of ordinary people leading ordinary lives
Filled with love, compassion, forgiveness and sacrifice
Heaven's in our hearts
In our faith in humankind
In our respect for what is earthly
In our unfaltering belief in peace and love and understanding
Look around
Believe in what you see
The kingdom is at hand
The promised land is at your feet
We can and will become what we aspire to be
If Heaven's here on earth
If we have faith in humankind
And respect for what is earthly
And an unfaltering belief that truth is divinity
And heaven's here on earth
I've seen spirits
I've met angels
I've touched creations beautiful and wondrous
I've been places where I question all I think I know
But I believe, I believe, I believe this could be heaven
We are born inside the gates with the power to create life
And to take it away
The world is our temple
The world is our church
Heaven's here on earth
If we have faith in humankind
And respect for what is earthly
And an unfaltering belief
In peace and love and understanding
This could be heaven here on earth
