Ramaswamy Contingency

As is explained below in this document, Vivek Ramaswamy is considered a top-tier GOP presidential candidate. Polls generally have him positioned in the top three.

In the current phase of the 2024 presidential election, all citizens regardless of party affiliation have an opportunity to help determine who will be on the ballot to represent the Republican Party.

If history is a guide, the 2024 presidential election will be a coin toss between the two main candidates on the ballot.

A “Ramaswamy Contingency” would be planning for the possibility of a future Vivek Ramaswamy presidency and the impact on society, business, education, the economy, and more.

Here is one example: If Ramaswamy shuts down the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (as promised), that will accelerate the development of Gen4 nuclear facilities such as Natrium reactors that use liquid sodium and traveling wave technology. This would result in abundant clean energy that would fuel the EV industry and related infrastructure. Such developments would impact personal and business decisions. A person may want to move to a state with factories and jobs connected to this next wave of energy diversity and distribution. That’s one example.

Here is another example: Ramaswamy has promised mass layoffs of federal government employees with a goal of a 75 percent reduction among the 2 million jobs. Can the Federal government function with only 500,000 employees? Maybe so, maybe not. Regardless, if you are a federal employee, you may want to start updating your resume and being exploring other career opportunities.

Tidal Wave Strategy

As of early August 2023, if we examine trajectories of the current political landscape leading up to the 2024 presidential campaign, Vivek Ramaswamy is the only candidate with the constellation of key requirements needed to win in 2024.

He is benefitting from the elements of a Tidal Wave Strategy (explained below), but not in a calculating manipulative way. He sincerely believes in the positions and policies he advocates.

  • Entire Voting Blocks — Rather than courting individual donors, Vivek is making promises to entire voting blocks and multi-billion dollar industries.
  • Limited Government — It takes a lot of time and money to draft 500-page proposals for reforming various government agencies. Such proposals are too long to read and hard to understand. Instead of doing that, he’s promising to shut down industry regulatory agencies as well as law enforcement agencies like the ATF and FBI. He’s promising to shut down the IRS. He is describing mass layoffs when 75% of the Federal administrative staff are let go. This will undoubtedly appeal to the limited government enthusiasts. This mirrors the layoffs in big tech (Facebook, Twitter/X, Amazon).
  • One Billion Supporters — Vivek has gained the attention and support of global influencers and news agencies around the world. It’s reasonable to question the value of having some supporters in Australia, Germany, India, or the U.K. if they can’t vote or give money. However, with our post-pandemic increased global connectedness, the impact of media influencers is immense. If there are currently a billion people contributing a single dollar of “value” through promoting awareness of Vivek, then he is currently at one billion dollars of in his campaign funding equity. In the U.S., some well-respected news agencies are posting talking-point video clips excerpted from lengthy interviews and presentations. These video clips are collectively flooding YouTube and social media. Go to YouTube and you’ll find numerous non-paid long-form “ads” promoting Vivek. What do campaign dollars buy? Advertising. Why go through the motions of collecting donations and spending it on ads if you can just sit back and get ads for free.
  • Trumpiest — Vivek is more Trumpy than Trump. He praises Trump’s policies and presidency, with the sole criticism that Trump didn’t deliver on all that he promised. While there are reasons to be critical of Trump, in doing so one risks inferring that his supporters are “a basket of deplorables” which would diminish support from Trump’s base. To retain the support of Trump’s base, one needs to repackage Trump’s message in a less offensive way while retaining the key deliverables. To someone like Vivek, a business-minded leader, it’s fairly easy to produce a second generation product that has more acceptance. This begins with having a new brand spokesperson who is more likeable and less offensive. In this way, he is able to retain a high number of Trump supporters without offending those who aren’t Trump supporters.

With a global base of an estimated one billion supporters, and the exclusive support of billion dollar industries, along with a world-wide palooza of independent self-funded social media volunteers, it will be unlikely for Vivek not to win in 2024 and 2028. He’s possibly the best that the Republican Party has to offer.

Democracy was established with guardrails that pre-date the present-day global online society. Thus, Democracy isn’t presently able to adjust for these soft inputs and meta-influences. As a result the system is functioning with less precision and less self-governance.

Democratic Party Response

The Democratic Party is not currently offering a dozen qualified charismatic young talented successful leaders to compete with the Republican field.

In the future, if the Democratic Party raises up a diverse offering of qualified candidates who resonate with independent voters, they will be in a better position to win. Also, it will be important to have a clearly defined platform of viable solutions, rather than a list of grievances with accompanying protests.

The best strategy for the Democratic Party over the next eight years would be to identify and build up effective leaders who can connect with a wide range of voters.
